Oh, right. I was skimming (Golden's prose doesn't really do it for me...but then, no one but Allston's has since NJO, really). I choose to deliberately misinterpret that particular statement.

I don't like her style much either. And the really nasty thing about it? It means she's 'had a go' at each of Vader's grandsons...

I desperately tried to believe that's not what was meant, but... it had to be stated IN COURT. Direct, immediately as obvious as if she'd yelled 'I kriffed Jacen Solo, Darth Doucheface... Caedus, I meant Caedus.'

If it weren't in such poor taste and insanely heartbreaking, it might actually be funny that the only Solo-Skywalker males she HASN'T made a pass at/supposedly slept with are Han and Luke...because of the belowmentioned statutary thing...

I choose to go with the "canon in broad strokes" view here (similar to the approach you have to take with the original Clone Wars 2D series and Traviss's look at the Mandos/Boba Fett) - it's similar to seeing a personal perspective on a real history, which means that personal experience colors it. Such that a small boy's recollection of Mace Windu exaggerates his abilities so that he kills thousands of droids and their planetcrushing tank single handedly; such that an Imperial-sympathizer anti-Jedi reporter consistently misses the actions of moral worth of the many noble Jedi; such that a newcomer mostly interested in slave political developments might color a relationship clearly sadistic and twisted into a sexual intimacy that didn't actually exist...

Okay, I have to dream. It's that or weep and never read Star Wars again. And I have to hang on till Wraith Squadron...

Part of me envies you. You didn't suffer through Denning's "everyone is as stupid as a teenager" characters, or Traviss's "Mandos are more interesting than Wedge" (and I am one of the few people who actually like Traviss) and Allston desperately trying to make it not fail.

But if you read Dark Nest, you get the general idea, without Allston's humor or Wedge.
