This weekend I watched three movies: American Psycho, The Last King of Scotland, and Blood Diamond. American Psycho was okay. There were parts that were funny, but I wasn't sure if I was supposed to laugh or be horrified. The Last King of Scotland was very good. Forest Whitaker definitely deserved the Academy Award. I'm disappointed that I hadn't really known anything about Idi Amin before seeing this movie. And Mr. Tumnus (James McAvoy) was very also very good. I also liked Blood Diamond, and again I was disappointed that I didn't really know anything about what happened in Sierra Leone or the things that go on in the diamond industry. It made me never want to buy diamonds again. All the performances were great. Djimon Hunsou needs to be in more movies, and Leonardo DiCaprio is just fantastic. I don't care if people hate him for being in Titanic, he is a wonderful actor.
While I liked all the movies, the last two more than the first one, I really need to watch a lighthearted movie. I'm sick (literally) of seeing people get shot, chopped up, flayed, etc. I told Philip that next weekend we need to watch a movie featuring puppies and rainbows. At least I feel like I was educated by The Last King of Scotland and Blood Diamond. As I said to Philip, "Africa isn't that great of a place." And it's sad.

Philip: Don't worry, you don't see anything.
Movie: girl at the bottom of the stairwell
Philip: Oh yeah, forgot about that.
During the scene with the kitten at the ATM:
movie: feed me a stray kitten
Me: OH NO!
Philip: Don't worry, the kitten doesn't die.
Me: If you are lying I will be really mad at you!
movie: guy shoots old lady in the head
Me: Phew, good, the kitten is okay.
At the end of the movie:
Me: Wait...so he didn't kill anyone?
Philip: Nope. Including the dog.
Me: Yay!
