Today I went back to the FX show. We were going mainly to see Corin Nemic (who wasn't there yesterday) and shop, and I wanted to see Timothy Zahn again. As soon as we got there we went to see Corin, who was very nice (and cute!). He played Jonas on Stargate:SG1, for those who don't know. I didn't get his autograph (didn't have much money to spend), but he was nice enough to take a picture with me anyway. What a cutie! And yes, I really am this damn short. :p
I went back to see Timothy Zahn while
theemdash went to go get her picture taken again with Alan Tudyk from Firefly. I bought a book of his - Manta's Gift, which I've been wanting to read - and he signed it. Then I proceeded to annoy the heck out of him. :D I asked him how to pronounce some names, because I'm horrible at figuring out pronunciations and have always been curious. For those who would like to know, C'Baoth is Suh-bee-oth, and Pellaeon is Puh-lee-on. I was so wrong for both of those! He said the audiobooks got them wrong too, because they didn't ask him the pronunciations. Then I told him that I re-read the Thrawn Trilogy this summer, and I commended him for not dumbing down Luke, and I also told him that I hated Borsk Fey'lya (in a good way - you're supposed to!) and that I forgot he was in the Thrawn Trilogy, and when I reread it I got so mad at him. Then Zahn said that he created Borsk because he wanted to show dissent, and because he doesn't think a "United Federation of Planets" where everyone gets along is realistic. He wanted to create a character that was a pain in the ass (his exact words!) but was doing the things he did because he thought that was best and that was the way his culture thought. The whole time I was thinking, "Timothy Zahn is having a conversation with me about writing! This is AWESOME!" Then I told him that after I met him at Celebration, I got offered my new job, so I thought he was a good luck charm and I was hoping something good would happen to me this weekend since I saw him again. And he asked if I was trying to get a new job or wanted anything, and I said I was trying to get promoted, and he told me to tell my bosses to promote me. !!! I &hearts Tim Zahn so much! No new picture today, but here's the one from yesterday.

I also saw Peter Mayhew yesterday (which I wrote about) and got a pic.

The rest of the day was shopping! Besides the book, I got a lot of stuff, and amazing deals! I got the Cantina encounter action figure set for $2!, Lobot and Admiral Ackbar (IT'S A TRAP!) as a 2 for $5 deal, Sabe from TPM for $4, and the best of all, Anakin Skywalker with Battle Damage (also known as lava vader) for $8!!!! I haven't seen that figure anywhere so I was expecting it to be a lot more, so I was so excited! So all in all, a good day!
Oh, and if you noticed my shirts, the green one is my Yoda shirt that says "Judge me by my size, do you?" and the gray one is the MPire shirt that says, "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" Hee!
Okay, I'm going to go collapse now. Too tired. :p

Date: 2006-01-29 06:28 pm (UTC)Corin was very cute. I'm not a big Daniel or Jonas fan (Jack all the way, baby!), but I did get a little weak-kneed when I saw Corin. :) Then again, Michael Shanks wasn't too bad, either!

Date: 2006-01-29 07:12 pm (UTC)Are you going to MegaCon? I think I'm skipping that one. I also am not sure about Dragon Con. There's supposed to be a C4 next year and I would much rather save up all my money to go there again. However, if I get promoted by then I might end up going.

Date: 2006-01-29 07:51 pm (UTC)I'm still considering it. I want to go to D*Con again, it was most fun. Christine is thinking about coming, I don't know if she'll have fun though, you on the other hand I know would. I didn't get to check out any of the Star Wars panels so I don't know how good/well organized they are. But I can understand wanting to save for C4. That's 2008?

Date: 2006-01-29 08:08 pm (UTC)Yes, C4 would be the better bet for you in that regard. There is a lot of SW stuff at D*C, Alli and/or Nick might still have their panel schedules from last year for you to have a look at. I know I've still got mine, I could bring it up next time I come up if you want. It would give you a better idea of what you'd be getting at D*C.

Date: 2006-01-30 07:41 am (UTC)I love asking authors, or hearing authors pronouce their character's names. I had pronounced Pellaeon as Pay-lee-on, and was ecstatic to hear him pronounce it Pah-lay-on. It was actually kind of funny - I think that one came up at the SWC charity auction lunch, and he was discussing characters, and that one rolled off his tongue. It took me a few moments to process who he was talking about, and then I said, "Oh! Is that how his name is pronounced??" I still pronounce C'Baoth as Sah-bo-eth though. I just can't get that one in my head.
Tim and Mike, and Aaron too, are all so awesome to sit, or stand and talk with. They're so casual, and friendly, and love to talk about their work, which is just fine with those of us who love to hear them talk about their work! My only regret is that I'm camera shy, and have never been good about getting my picture taken with all the cool celebs that I've met. *sigh* I'm hoping Tim will be at Dragon*Con this year, since he isn't coming anywhere near New England for his Outbound Flight tour.
